Pattern Seashell Skirt

This skirt can be made for any size and any type of yarn. The most important part is making a gauge-swatch to determine the size and remebering that the pattern is a 4-stitch repeat. You can make a gauge-swatch by following the simplified chart and is made with 12 chains to start. Measure the width of you swatch and measure the width of the girl you are making it for.

For example: the circumfence of the belly (just below the bellybutton where the waistband of a jeans or skirt normally sits) is 56 cm. My swatch came out to a width of 7 cm/.
56cm divided by 7cm is 8, so I have to start with a chain of 8 times 12 = 96. The length of the skirt is easily determined by trying it on.

If the swatch is to small to measure correctly (maybe because you are making it in cotton with a size 3mm hook), crochet the chart 2x, or 24 chains to start.
